File the Business Name (BN) registration
Once the name is reserved, file form BN/2 on the same eCitizen BRS portal. Cost is KES 950. Certificate is usually issued in 1–3 working days.
What you'll need on hand
- Scanned colour copy of your national ID (front & back)
- Your personal KRA PIN certificate
- Passport-size photo (white background, JPG/PNG, under 1MB)
- Physical address of business: building, floor, road, town, county, postal code
- Nature of business (be specific — 'M-Pesa agent and stationery shop' is better than 'general trade')
- Active phone number and email
Submit and pay
- On eCitizen → BRS → 'Register a Business Name'.
- Pick your reserved name from the dropdown.
- Fill in proprietor details (you), commencement date, nature, and address.
- Upload ID, KRA PIN, passport photo.
- Pay KES 950 and submit.
A Certificate of Registration of a Business Name (form BN/3) with your unique BN/ number. Download the PDF and save copies — banks, landlords, and KRA will all ask for it.
